Introduction

Supporting a Project for a leading MedTech company that embarks on a multi-year digital transformation journey to harmonize its many global MedTech ERPs into a single SAP S4/HANA platform. This move aims to modernize the digital core and will help to enable a digital end-to-end (E2E) business.

Business Challenges

Before the implementation of SAP, the company faced several business challenges. For instance, they are operating with a disjointed technology landscape of 40+ ERPs, which leads to inefficient and heavy processes, contributing to reduced customer experience. Furthermore, data quality issues inhibit timely decision-making and limited visibility into customers’ needs. Outdated and aging technology increase cybersecurity and business continuity risks.

Solution

To address these challenges, the company is implementing SAP S4/HANA, which will replace 40+ ERP systems globally (Manufacturing, Order-to-Cash, Finance). The implementation involves eight major programs and spans over multiple years, with a global framework and two programs underway, all managed by a global team. SAP S4/HANA will enable the company to have enhanced customer experience by anticipating needs through modern tools, better decisions using timely, accurate, and harmonized data from connected systems, more efficient operations through standardized business processes built-in Global Template Design, and a modern, compliant, and stable infrastructure to support the growth of their business.

uDefine is playing a vital role in a major program by providing a team of 5 experienced Senior Consultants in diverse areas such as Loan & Consignment, Sales, Supply Chain, and Finance. 
The team’s primary responsibilities include organizing and conducting workshops to gather and analyse requirements, performing Fit/Gap analysis, and designing To-Be processes in the new S/4 Hana Environment. The team also ensures that the solutions comply with the design decisions and gap dispositions, provide post-workshop follow-up and refinement of user stories in an Agile scrum environment. 
Furthermore, the team creates design- / functional specifications, and configuration documents while providing support for configuration and development. The team also assists the business community in system and business/user acceptance testing and defect resolution during system validation. 
Presently, the uDefine team is actively supporting the first and second go-live on the S/4 platform onsite, which is progressing well, and in parallel working on upcoming country deployments planned to go live in 2023, 2024 and beyond.
